Dissertation: Political and Social Design

I've always been fascinated by political and protest design

When it came time to choose my dissertation area, I knew I wanted to dive into my interest in visual communication for persuasion and propaganda. I chose to focus on a traditional example of propaganda, Nazi Germany's, and more modern and grassroots forms of persuasion. I looked at whether or not there exists a commonality for all visual material intended to persuade and to what extent the execution and reception differ based on various contexts.

For the curious

Expanding my book design skills

My dissertation unit was unique in that it needed to be designed; this was a welcome task as I wanted to expand my publication experience during my third year. The design uses a 12-column grid, and the baseline grid, margins and gutters are based on the cap height of the body typeface. The book was designed in InDesign, and printed and bound at AUB.
